(Redirected from Class C Misdemeanor)
Class C misdemeanors do not carry the possibility of confinement. They are punishable by fine only, and the fine may not exceed $500 (plus court costs). Deferred Adjudication can be granted which shall not exceed 180 days in duration.
Traffic tickets are generally class C misdemeanors.
Even though confinement can not be ordered as a sentence for class C misdemeanors, judges will often accept confinement in lieu of payment of fines.
Class C misdemeanors are special because if a person accepts Deferred Adjudication and successfully completes the requirements, they can get an Expunction not just a Nondisclosure as is the case in all other criminal offense levels.
