The following enhancements, if plead and proven by the prosecutor, will make an offense more severe. Usually, these enhancements (also called "paragraphs" because they appear as separate paragraphs on the indictment or information) will make the offense worse by one degree for each enhancement paragraph. For instance, If a person is charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, that is a Class A Misdemeanor, but if the prosecutor alleges and can prove that the weapon was carried in a  Weapon Free School Zone, then the offense becomes a State Jail Felony, which is the next highest category.
