While studying at TCU, he wrote paid commentaries for the university newspaper, organized several successful student composers' concerts, and improvised piano accompaniments for modern dance and ballet classes. While not studying at TCU, Ezra met and married Shannon Low, and also discovered college football. Both he and Shannon remains loyal Horned Frog fans.
Ezra's composed musical highlights include one act of an opera, a one-movement piano concerto, suites for percussion and for saxophones, several choral and piano pieces, and a four-hand monstrosity for two well-humored pianists.
Community and Mission Service
Ezra recently concluded a one-year volunteer term co-teaching a daily (before-school) high-school Old Testament class for about twenty students in Annandale, Virginia for the LDS-CES seminary program.
Prior to that, Ezra was an assistant scoutmaster leader for the Annandale Varsity Team #1146.
From 2003 to 2005, he led an LDS congregation's men's organization in Fort Worth, including organizing a vigorous member outreach program, Sunday and weekday meetings, and correlating the group's activities with the congregation leadership and other organizations.
Ezra served a customary two-year volunteer mission for the LDS church in Latvia, Belarus, and Moscow, from March 1999 to March 2001. Ezra learned and spoke Russian for this service, which included prosletyzing, English classes, alcohol and addiction classes, and hefting humanitarian shipments of food. He led an eight-member missionary team from October 2000 to March 2001. Ezra is conversationally capable in Russian today.
